Kai Arts and Music has a talented pool of teachers who are dedicated to the development of string instruments learning and performing, primarily violins and violas. Our students perform in concerts, compete in Eisteddfods, join WAYO (WA Youth Orchestra) and many have gone on to become lead violinists and violists of their school orchestras.

Our teaching methods are conventional. However, our vast variety of teaching materials include Suzuki violin and viola books. We have mainly encourage the AMEB examinations for string players and we take students from beginner levels to pre-university players.

Our string department is particular about promoting correct posture and technique whilst helping the students to develop musical ears. It is essential that students understand that string instruments strive to mimic the human voice. Therefore, we encourage our students to listen and sing with their instruments.

Music Theory

Music theory classes are provided outside of students’ regular lesson time. Theory classes are in small groups format, lead by an experienced and qualified teacher. Our program follows the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) Curriculum.

Our established teaching system will guide students through each concept with clear explanations and practical examples. Many of our students are able to complete 2 grades in one year with excellent results.

Our Music Theory Classes are open to students outside of Kai Arts & Music.
